Generations of students will benefit from the lasting legacy Dr. Frank L. Hilton has made to support student educational needs at the Ivy Tech - Evansville campus. This past April, Dr. Hilton made a generous planned gift to the Ivy Tech Foundation in memory of his late wife, Barbara J. Hilton. Barbara was a dedicated mother, wife, friend, and nurse. Dr. Hilton has also made planned gifts that are pledged to the Ivy Tech Foundation through his IRA.

“The gift in her name was especially appropriate because Barbara understood how difficult it could be to balance life, family, and nursing school all at once—something she managed to do successfully while graduating at the top of her class,” Frank says.

Dr. Hilton began practicing medicine in Evansville in 1970 and helped develop The Women’s Hospital “from the ground up.” During his career, Dr. Hilton has worked closely with Ivy Tech students and graduates and sees the value and impact of an Ivy Tech credential.

As another symbol of his generous spirit, Dr. Hilton has also established several charitable remainder unitrusts for his children that are earmarked to continue supporting Ivy Tech students. “Eighty percent of all remaining estate assets in each of the unitrusts will be donated to the Foundation for the benefit of the Barbara J. Hilton School of Nursing and the Dr. Frank L. Hilton School of Health Sciences,” Frank says. The gifts from the Hilton family will provide new equipment and supplies to be purchased at the school for years to come and help keep Ivy Tech’s students up to date with the latest trends in the industry.

“Ivy Tech is a wonderful institution dedicated to educating students,” Frank concludes. “I have nothing but good to say about it, its faculty, and its administration.”
