Kathy and Randy Vernon’s Estate-Plan Gift Will Provide Future Scholarships

Lafayette residents Kathy and Randy Vernon have for years provided scholarships to students at both the Lafayette and Bloomington campuses of Ivy Tech. Recently, they made a planned gift commitment to ensure their scholarships will change lives long after they are gone.

“Our decision to make a significant estate gift for scholarships at Ivy Tech stems from our core belief that the student comes first.

“Both of us feel Ivy Tech is sometimes seen as a place for those who cannot afford other options; the College does not get the credit it deserves for the quality of education provided. That being said, it only made sense for us to provide an opportunity to ease the financial burden for students for many years to come.

“There is no greater pleasure than meeting the student recipients of our scholarships. Each one we have met over the years comes from a unique set of circumstances, yet all express an attitude of sincere gratitude and are very proud to be Ivy Tech students.

“While we continue to support other organizations, we are convinced that supporting scholarships at Ivy Tech benefits not only the individual students but also their families and communities for generations to come.”
